Gary moved to Rampton in 2019 after being a lifelong resident of Sandiacre near Nottingham. Gary was previously a Councillor at Sandiacre Parish Council from 2007 to 2019, and Borough Councillor on Erewash Borough Council from 2007 to 2015. During his term as Borough Councillor, Gary was part of the various committees and full council meetings, additional serving as a trustee on the Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust.
